It seems that Autumn temperatures have finally arrived at the beginning of the new month, and despite my love for this time of year, I do tend to feel quite forlorn or even lonely sometimes during those cosiest months to come. A feeling most recognisable for many - especially single - people, I'm sure, and so I decided to put together a list of daily little prompts to keep things light and fun while the days get darker. A November motivation and appreciation post, if you will, because there is so much you can do to make every day of this crisp and beautiful season worthwhile.
DAY 1. Discover a 'new' Netflix series. Well, seeing as it's already quite late (I slept till noon for the first time in a long while after last night's crazy Halloween Party. And, boy, was it worth it.) there's not really that much time left to start being sensible, is there? But, hey, today is a free day and you don't always have to be productive, am I right? That's why I'm granting myself and anyone who is up for this November challenge to DO. ABSOLUTE. ZILCH the minute you've finished reading this, and cosy up for some quality Netflix chilling. Go for it. My favourites at the moment? Stranger Things, Rick and Morty (bandwagon, anyone?), Brooklyn 99 and a royal - guilty pleasure - documentary series about the Windsors.
DAY 2. Rearrange your furniture. Or if you don't have that much time, add something new to your home to make it all the cosier to come home to after work this month.
DAY 3. Frame your favourite picture.
DAY 4. Start a piggy bank. Find a weekly, unnecessary thing you spend money on (preferably a nasty habit) cut it and put it into a jar. Keep it up and you've got a nice little extra to reward yourself at the end of the month! Feel free to repeat at the start of every next month. ;)
DAY 5. Go for a walk in the rain.
DAY 6. Splurge on a new phonecase.
DAY 7. Stretch or meditate before bed. I'll be trying out the Headspace app soon. Has anyone tried it? Thoughts?
DAY 8. Wear your favourite clothes.
DAY 9. Adopt a new houseplant.
DAY 10. Do a social media cleanup.
DAY 11. Have breakfast in bed. It's Remembrance Day, people. Seize the opportunity while acknowledging history. ;)
DAY 12. Wear crazy socks.
DAY 13. Watch a film, make it a childhood favourite!
DAY 14. Make your own pizza.
DAY 15. Spoil yourself with a DIY spa treatment. Take a bath with a fancy bath bomb, scrub those pores, enjoy a facial mask (the weirder the colour, the better),... Anything you'd like, really!
DAY 16. Declutter your workspace.
DAY 17. Slide across the floor in your socks. Don't skip this one, okay? Just do it.
DAY 18. Go out for a fancy dinner.
DAY 19. Have a pyjama day.
DAY 20. Watch a film released in your birth year.
DAY 21. Surprise someone. Send flowers or find someone a random, typically them present. They'll love it and you will, too.
DAY 22. Make an inspiration board. About anything, really. About your Holiday decorations, where you want to be or what you want to work on next year, etc.
DAY 23. Send someone a postcard.
DAY 24. Pop a bottle and celebrate yourself. Throw in a little living room dance while you're at it.
DAY 25. Host a (dinner) party.
DAY 26. Bake cookies.
DAY 27. Memorise your favourite song's lyrics.
DAY 28. Treat yourself to a box of doughnuts.
DAY 29. Go for coffee with a(n) (old) friend.
DAY 30. Put up your Christmas lights. It. Is. Time.
That's it, a whole month of little things to enjoy! What d'you think, are you up for it? Then see the full list below and keep it close. Let's do this.
