Well, well, isn't time going too fast this year? I feel like the last couple of months just flew by, and didn't leave me with a lot of free time to spend on myself. That's about to change, as I have next week to look forward to (it's job-free!), and I have a couple of more hours a day to myself in this one as well. This means that I'll have even more hours to keep myself busy with - or enjoy things - I'm currently really digging, and I'm about to share those things with you!
Most of you will probably already know that one of my favourite things to do is visit the film theatre. There are times when it's even a weekly thing, and I can't tell you how much I love my local cinema. In fact, it's probably one of the main things that kept me in my hometown when I was thinking about moving out. So in short, loving cinema visits is quite a big 'about me' thing, and so I thought I'd integrate it into my home decor. That's right, I've started saving my tickets! I bought a magnetic frame over at Hema, which makes it easy to just throw them in, and I'm quite sure it won't take too long until it's full and I'll have to find a bigger container. But until then, this one will do nicely as a nice interior detail.
I was growing pretty tired of my Instagram feed lately, so this app appeared into view just in time. When you're a blogger (or you want to come across just a liiiiittle more professional, like me) it's quite handy to preview what your feed will look like before posting a new picture. I'm absolutely loving the built-in editor, as well.
Want to try it yourself? There's a link to the iTunes store below, but it's compatible for Android, too!
THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST (2017) SOUNDTRACK
Come closer and I'll tell you a teensy tiny secret. Close enough? Well... Here goes. I have seen this film three times already, and am not even sure I'll be able to resist a fourth visit. It's just so good, people, and I'm not even sorry for being so die-hard about this re-imagining. There haven't been many days ever since the film was released, that this soundtrack went unplayed (I love doing the dishes to it, haha!). From the old favourites I could already belt out, to the brand new songs that really grow on you after a couple of listens AND the beautiful instrumental score; it's on repeat here at Echo Base. And again: not even remotely sorry.
SERIES: 13 REASONS WHY
This new Netflix Original is really taking the world by storm, and very rightly so. It's well-written, heart-wrenching and actually rather important when you think about it. I find that not many people realise the effect one person can have on another, whether it's deliberate or not, and I'm pretty sure many of you will find a lot of situations in this story recognisable. This little paragraph should include a trigger warning for certain scenes, though, so please; don't keep things to yourself if you're really affected by these episodes. Don't bottle it up, talk.
HELLO FRESH & HOARDING RECIPES
I've done this before and never for very long, but I've recently taken to Hello Fresh again. This is a system where you receive a box full of fresh food per week (3 meals, in my case) and it's really been quite the lifesaver for me. I sometimes find it very hard to start cooking for one after coming home rather late from work, leading to a very unhealthy lifestyle of pretty much the same food every day or worse: nothing at all. The recipes are really good and it's actually pretty cool to cook something you'd never cook if it were up to you. For me personally, as a single, it's also perfect portion-wise, and the prize is totally agreeable when I compare it to my regular groceries (it's actually cheaper, hurray!). And the cherry on top? It looks great on camera!
That new habit of mine came just in time for another little project. Because I don't have any cookbooks (yet? I find that most vegetarian cookbooks I've held in my hands are not really that good. Could be just me), I started compiling my own. How? Just by turning a regular pretty notebook into the perfect little carrier for personal favourites I come across, mostly on Pinterest. A lot of Hello Fresh recipes have already made the cut, and I'm sure lots more will follow!
Q: What are your favourite little projects/series/hobbies these days?
PS: geeky addition coming up... But have you SEEN the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer?! Aaaaah! That probably counts as 'currently-crazy-about', too, for me. 😂
