Today is Siblings Day, so I thought I'd dedicate a short post to my own brother and sister and tell you a bit about them. So, siblings, when you're reading this: don't panic! No secrets, no details. Just love.
First thing's first: I have a few good friends that I adore with all my heart and with whom I have the best of times, but I am not really an easy person when it comes to spilling the beans. I've always felt rather out of place, as well, whether it's for an entire evening or just the awkward five minutes, and there are only two people who'd never make me feel that way. True, that's probably because they grew up with me and know all my little traits, pet peeves and flaws, but it's really not a given thing to get to call your brother and sister your best friends, and in that aspect, I feel quite lucky. There's never anybody I can't tell anything to, from funny things to the occasional heartache and bluesy moments. But mostly: there's never a dull moment with those two. I am at my best with them, it's as simple as that.
Considering all of this, it must be clear that if anything was weird when I moved out, it was not having them around all the time. Don't get me wrong, because I quite enjoy the occasional peace and quiet that a family of five outspoken, often different characters couldn't always provide, but what's that saying? You don't know what you have until it's gone? Obviously, we quickly settled on a day in the week on which they both come around and hang out, which is often expanded with several other days in the week if we're bored or need it. Or if they miss the cats, let's be honest here. ;-)
So, to summarise: it's awesome to have two siblings that are so different, yet so like you. With the same interests, the same wacky humour and -hey- the same eyes and nose. I never feel weird around them, which is probably the biggest thing here, but I guess that's probably because they're pretty much the same weird as me, isn't it?
So, Erin, Raine. Let's continue to be weirdo's together for as long as we can. ;-)
Q: do you have brothers and/or sisters? What are they like?
