Hi there! You might have noticed it was rather quiet here on the blog last week. Quite a few reasons for that, from things I'm currently loving to other time-consuming matters: let me throw them on the table for you!
THAT TIME I WANTED TO MAKE A COOL PRESENT FOR MY NEPHEW
My 12-year-old nephew threw a large party yesterday, called his - literally translated - Spring Feast (the atheïst equivalent of the Holy Communion), and as he is so into films, like me, I thought I'd make him a fitting present: a calendar/journal in which he could make a list of all the films he'd like to see, and give them stars once he'd seen them. I was pretty proud of my idea, but I'd underrated the crafting hours immensely, which resulted in me having to work on it (with pleasure!) every morning before, and every evening after work. Throw in a meeting on Thursday and the rest of these little paragraphs and there was not much time left for blogging, that's for sure. The calendar turned out pretty neat, though, and I truly hope he loved it!
LIVING WITH TWO SHADOWS
That cat in my lap effortlessly brings me to the next time-consumer: two absolute sweethearts who have turned into little stalkers. Leia and Strummer spent a whole Monday at the vet for their castration and sterilisation, and although there was nothing to be noticed of the operation when they got home in the afternoon (except for Leia's hairless belly, poor thing), there was one thing that almost immediately became clear: they have turned into big, Nelle-adoring softies. Even more so than they already were, actually, and that means that there's almost no way for me to shake them now. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, though. Nothing beats a good cat cuddle when you get home from work, believe me, and I'll gladly take the extra difficulties when it comes to getting stuff done with it.
The DIY project for my nephew was not the only thing that kept me busy every evening because I've recently rekindled my love for Pirates of the Caribbean films (nostalgia, aren't they?). The reason for that might just possibly be that we are going to the first screening of the fifth one tomorrow, and I had an urge to watch the four previous instalments all over again. I'm pretty excited about it, really, because that fourth one, come on... A Pirates film without Will Turner? Who does that?
My Mum and I recently made it a thing to go out for a fancy breakfast once a month. I think we already skipped one (so it goes), but we finally made it back for the second edition last Tuesday, joined by my sister. Breakfast with the ladies it is, then! A tradition well worth holding on to, so on to next month. Y U M.
THE LOW BATTERY WARNING
Finally, I had a suspicious feeling of running a bit low on energy all week, and this eventually resulted in quite a scare on Saturday. With this comes a handy lesson, readers, and that's to listen to your body and take it down a couple of notches when it comes to marching on. Procrastinate the hell out of everything, by all means, but don't ignore the signs - like me - and wait until you black out for the entirety of 10 minutes while preparing to head out for work. Turns out having those two shadows wasn't only adorable but handy as well, because if it hadn't been for curious Strummer waking me, who knows how long I would've been knocked out on the bathroom floor like a total idiot. The verdict? Dodgy blood pressure, a heart rate that's just a tad too quick and an obligatory blood examination. Blegh. I'm still feeling a bit under the weather and promised my Doctor and myself that I'd take it easy this week so it might be another quiet couple of days on this blog. Forgive me and stick around!
Q: what have you been up to last week? Any tips on taking things slowly?
