We're a week into 2018, and I don't know about you but I can't wait to start this new year on a good note after all those parties, visits and the aftermath of them. It always seems like such a given thing to start the minute January the 1st comes along, but I for one know how difficult it can be to get out of that 2017 hangover and find your energy again after such busy times, especially if you actually don't have time off before and after that little change in numbers. I do, however, have a couple of tips for you AND for myself to get going and kick 2018's butt. Or at least the first months to come. ;-) Let's see them!
UPDATE YOUR MORNING ROUTINE
THE best way to finding your energy again is giving yourself time to wake up in the morning and having a good start to your days. Knowing how much sleep you need, keeping to that schedule and making time for breakfast can truly make a difference to how you feel for the rest of a day, take it from me. Having time to spare when you get ready for work is also a huge stress-reliever, and ever since I got up earlier and was able to do a couple of necessary chores (especially to do with those cats), coming home in the evening without having too much left on the to do list is simply heavenly. A busy November and December tend to take that away from you, so finding back that routine or even improving it should send you right off into the new year in no time.
CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET
Literally, yes, but feel free to take it figuratively as well! Look back on the issues that got you down at the end of 2017, make peace with them or even cut them loose and start anew in 2018. And wardrobe-wise? There's nothing more fun than finding your outfit of the day super quick in the morning, isn't it? Put other things on the top of the pile and change it up a little bit. You'll feel brand new!
TIDY UP YOUR PHONE, COMPUTER AND SOCIAL MEDIA...
Ah, clean slates. There's nowhere easier to start one than online, is there? No matter the fact that it just symbolises said clean slate. Delete, re-organise, re-style away with this one!
... AND YOUR DESK
A clean desk space is so much more appealing and easier to work at, it's as simple as that. Surround yourself with inspiration, throw in a couple of motivational quotes and productiveness, here you come!
DO YOUR PAPERWORK AND CROSS OFF THE TO DO'S YOU LOST TRACK OF
Now this is less fun, I know, but necessary if you want to have a good idea of where you're at at the start of this new year, if only to make sure 2018 doesn't start off with any nasty surprises or too much work because it kept piling up after the busy months leading up to the festivities. Find out how much you managed to save last year and decide where you want to go with that, and/or in my case: catch up on some school work!
UPDATE YOUR GOALS AND MAKE A NEW TO DO LIST.
As cliché as it might seem, a new year is truly a great time to evaluate your accomplishments so far, and figure out whether they made you happy or not and where you want to go. I found YearCompass a great help when it came to all of that. Which dreams you want to chase this year, and how you're going to do it. What you want to spend more time on, and with whom... You get the picture. ;)
Q: what do you want to spend more time on this New Year?
