Another year of ALLO calls for a couple of goals, don't you think? Perhaps not as set in stone as I'd like - you know how it goes - but definitely worth chasing as I would love to keep this up and keep you, sweet readers, along for the ride. To-do list coming in 1, 2, 3, ...
A BETTER SCHEDULE
I've not hidden it very well that combining this blog, which I love beyond words, with a job that has changing work hours, a single person's household, other hobbies on the side and an undeniable tendency to fill every spare time I have with watching films and series, has been quite difficult. Every time I thought I'd found the perfect schedule, it was just a matter of time until the whole thing was ruined again. So now I am vowing to make holy the only afternoon - yes, afternoon - that's less likely to be filled with other commitments, tasks or chores and dedicate it to scheduling blog posts, listing up ideas, etc. So, Sundays, please be good to ALLO.
D'you know how they always say that to grow a successful blog, you need to find your niche and stick to it? Well, I actually want to do the opposite. There's just so many different things I love and want to write about, and I've never quite liked the idea of focusing my blog on one aspect of my character. I like films to a level others might deem weird, but I also like cheesy music(als), beauty and/or pampering products, etc. Those last few things somehow still presumed as less far-fetched for a girl. Getting to write about all of those things, together in one space, just seems right to me. It's a package deal, you know?
I've always made it a rule not to use stock photos but solely own pictures or creations. That's a personal choice, but as Autumn became Winter and the days grew shorter, I found that what really frustrated me and kept me from writing was not being able to take pictures that looked good enough. Now that might seem like a little bit of perfectionism to you, and let me tell you: you are absolutely right. But the thing is: as you blog on for years, as in any other job or hobby, you grow better. Or you want to, anyway. That's the whole point of it, isn't it? That, AND the fact that I've always dreamt of having a decent camera, finally made it a must-invest-in if I wanted this little corner of the internet to grow with me. And what a good call that was, because ever since I got that new camera, I haven't been able to put it down. I just want to take it everywhere, it's so addictive and satisfying just learning to perfect those pictures and find my own style!
FINDING THE IDEAL LAYOUT AND LOOK
You might have noticed I've already started tinkering on here, changing up the fonts and the colours. Next up? The landing page. I've never been quite happy with it so I'm making it priority number two (after those blog posts!) to finally making it work for me and - hopefully - for you.
GET MORE PERSONAL
It's not always easy for me to write personal posts, but I find that when I do you guys seem to like them, take comfort from them and dare to express your own feelings about certain topics. That's probably the thing I love most about this blog and what I'm most proud of accomplishing. So I vow to be braver, however painfully honest I may need to get, because as much of a favourite read for you that kind of posts apparently are, they turned out to be even more of a comfort for myself every single time I got them off my chest. Thanks to you.
So let's do this, twenty-eighteen!
Q: what are your goals, blogging or other, for this year?
