Hi there! It’s been awfully quiet over here, hasn’t it? I’m afraid that was all due to a bit of a personal rut I had to go through these past couple of weeks. Those do tend to happen once in a while, and it’s quite a lot to explain. I’m sure I will, though, when I feel like it, but for now: let’s focus on this new month, a new beginning and a brand new to do list to keep this courage and energy going while they’re here. Take a look!
Go for more walks.
It’s been THE remedy against all that’s been going on inside my head lately, as I find that it’s just about the only thing that can make me relax when I’m having trouble throughout a bad day. Walks? During this time of year? Why, yes, they’re the best and prettiest walks you can have during the year, take my word for it. Those brisk mornings and evenings truly freshen you up and help you put all your troubles into perspective. So, naturally, I’m hoping to keep this up as November rushes past, and well into December, too.
Finish the knits.
Today being an exception, there truly have been a couple of chilly days already, haven’t there? It was a bit of a shock coming out of that long Indian Summer, straight into Winter-y temperatures, even for this A/W fan. I actually regretted not having started knitting in August, at one point, seeing as my tempo is clearly not what it used to be… I’ve put the geeky scarf I’m working on close to me at all times now, though, hoping to finish that one at least before Winter truly kicks in again.
Pick up some bird food.
I live right next to a park, with a couple of pollard willows just outside my backdoor that are attracting quite a lot of cute little birds these past couple of days. Seeing as there are so few of them now, compared to a couple of years ago, I’m determined to make sure that the ones that do show up have something to fill their bellies with at all times. I’d be absolutely thrilled if this spot could turn into their favourite stop too, of course, as are my cats, I’m sure… The three of us could watch those cuties for hours at a time, if not for VERY different reasons.
Paint my bedroom.
This has been on my mind for quite some time, actually, because out of all the little corners in my apartment, there’s just something quite cold and all-but-cosy about my bedroom. It’s begging for a new lick of paint and I really hope to squeeze that in this month. Absolutely no idea about the colour yet, though. I’ll keep you posted!
Enjoy those cosy nights in to the fullest.
This one speaks for itself, doesn’t it? The occasional cosy “spoil yourself” night in is so important this time of year, and anything but boring if you do it right. Pick up some extra candles, get your favourite snack, cosy up with a book or pick out your favourite films/series and GO.
Plan my holidays.
If they come through, that is, which is still painfully uncertain. There’s the weekend away with my family in a couple of weeks, at least, which I’m really looking forward to as I could really, really use some time away. With a bit of luck, that weekend will be followed by an entire week to fill with all sorts of things and -basically- free time that I have been putting off for far too long. Fingers crossed!
Get an early start on Christmas.
The perfect way to get your spirits up this time of year? Get your Christmas on! Oh, I know it’s early, but what the hell… We - and by "we” I DO mean “you”, “me” and “the entire world” - could use some cheer induced by string lights, jolly tunes and other Christmassy things these days. So it’s a quest for a couple of new decorations, working on an early wish list while breaking out the annual Christmas playlist already, and possibly some party planning for me this month!
