A good morning to you, and to my fellow Award Season fans in particular! Since the Oscars are but a few days away, it's time to share my traditional ballot for you to download. An update on where I'm at with the watchlist and - of course - the freebie itself are right under the cut!
The contenders for Best Picture are always the first on my list, and as you can see below, there are only two left on the list before the big night on Sunday. It's been quite a year, if you ask me, because so far there's only one I believe shouldn't win the most prestigious of golden statues and that's The Post. Despite being a good film, it just seems a bit too cliché and unoriginal to end up as 'best film of the year'... What do you think?
In addition to the Best Picture noms, however, there are a lot of other nominees definitely worth watching! These are mostly nominees for featuring an outstanding acting performance and having an amazing screenplay (although their chances for winning are quite slender, I thought it was absolutely epic that Logan and The Big Sick were nominated in this category!), but there's also a couple that feature impressive editing, sound mixing and production in general (Baby Driver and Blade Runner 2049 are two of the best films I've seen last year. Hands. Down). In short, other personal favourites and must-see Oscar nominees on my list are:
And then, of course, the ballot! It's right under here, so feel free to download (use the link) and have fun filling it in! I always end up using two colours, because the ones I think are going to take the statue home with them are not always necessarily the ones I would like most to win.
Q: who are you rooting for Sunday night?
