Exciting times ahead for us Blockbuster fans, as we've got a long time period of quite epic film releases coming our way. These are the ones I'm counting down to the most. Join in, will you? ;)
AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR (April, 25th). I don't think Marvel has ever been more committed to keeping quiet about one of their films. I mean, they basically threw Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland off the internet (rightly so, the number of spoilers they've sent into the world accidentally before - ever so funnily - are through the roof), scheduled their press tours super close to the release date AND launched the hashtag #ThanosDemandsYourSilence ages ago. And let's not forget about those totally real Marvel Police marksmen stationed on the nearby roof at just about every cast interview that took place the last year or so. Needless to say: I am really, really excited about seeing it tonight (argh!). And frightened. And so not ready. Nor will I ever be.
DEADPOOL 2 (May, 16th). The first Deadpool changed so much for superhero films, with its brilliant humour and gory/dark storyline perfectly brought by Ryan Reynolds. The second one looks like it's nothing short of all the same things, and then some. That last trailer had me in fits already, and I can imagine the film itself will make it difficult to stay in my seat instead of rolling off it in happy tears.
SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY (May, 23rd). I must admit that it took me a while to get properly excited about this one, but that final trailer pushed me over the edge. I've always thought Donald Glover was going to make an amazing Lando and I'm still pretty convinced about that, but I'm also finally warming up to Ehrenreich's Solo and I'm quite looking forward to seeing the Chewie/Han bromance unfold on screen. Only thing I'm worried about? Emilia Clarke's Qi'Ra. I hope they throw in a plot twist when it comes to her character and make her the badd or something, but until then, I dunno... I have a bit of a same old same old feeling.
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM (June, 6th) Blue! Rexie! More Pratt and a badass looking Bryce Dallas Howard! Goldblum! I repeat, Goldblum! Yes, I am still excited about Fallen Kingdom, despite the fact that the last trailer appears to be giving the whole plot away AND showed Ian Malcolm in the same setting once again. I'll be so disappointed if that's the only appearance he makes, you guys... So, so disappointed. But... Blue!
OCEAN'S 8 (June 6th). I'm really quite the fan of all the past Ocean films and love how mindlessly yet cleverly entertaining they all were. And now they're doing it with an all-women cast, hurrah! Perhaps it was just me, but they had me at Bullock, Blanchett and Bonham-Carter.
THE INCREDIBLES 2 (June, 27th). I only have one word for you, and that is 'FINALLY' !
ANT-MAN & THE WASP (July, 18th) Loved Ant-Man (Paul Rudd, nuff said), quite looking forward to seeing more of Evangeline as The Wasp, too. And they cast Michelle Pfeiffer as the original so... It does not get better than that.
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN (August, 1st). This is pure nostalgia for me as there are probably not a lot of twenty-somethings around that didn't grow up with Winnie the Pooh (or in my case: Tigger. He's the best). I mean, I got all teary-eyed when Jim Cumming's original Pooh Bear made his big comeback in the first teaser. And, hey, you all know by now that McGregor can't do anything wrong in my book.
MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: FALLOUT (August, 1st). It's a bit of a tradition for us to go see every new M.I. film in the theatre, totally relax, put as few brain cells as possible to use and just enjoy crazy Cruise pull off even crazier stunts. August, 1st will be no different, I promise you that.
Q: which films, blockbuster or otherwise, are you looking forward to the most?
