Septembers are for new beginnings. Even more so than January in my book, and so this month’s to do list is full of good intents, new habits, routines and an underlying feel of Autumn being right around the corner, which I am unsurprisingly quite looking forward to. Take a look at my to-do list, and perhaps it’ll help you start your own!
1) Update My Wardrobe & Try Out Capsule
I’ve been itching to update my wardrobe to its cosy A/W version again for some time now, but as temperatures finally swing towards chillier these last couple of days, I’ve finally scheduled it for tomorrow. And that’s not the only thing, because I plan to be quite stern and only hang out my absolute favourite pieces, so to have a go at a (slightly more extensive than is the norm, mind) capsule wardrobe. Wish me luck!
2) Reassess Costs
After almost two years of living alone, one really does notice their bank account taking a couple of hits. Unneeded hits, too, so I’ve already started cutting out stuff I don’t really need. I could use a bit of extra money for all those Christmas presents to come, you know. Too soon? ;)
3) Go For Frequent Runs Again
I hate working out in Summer, I really do. Probably because I already find it hard enough to go outside in the heat, let alone push my limits in it. Needless to say, my running routine has suffered a bit for the last couple of months, so September is the perfect moment to get into that again. Memo to me, however: do not pretend you’ve still got that 5k in the pocket after two months of rest. It seems like you do while you’re at it and even when you stretch it out right after, but the next day, dear me… Let these two days of penguin-walking remind me: ya don’t got it, so build-up.
4) Read More
I’ve already talked about wanting to get into the habit of reading again last week, so it’s definitely a big one on the to-do list. Want to join me? Go read a couple of tips so we can all succeed!
5) Keep Up Bullet Journalling
This Bullet Journal has been lying on my desk for almost two months, but I’m finally getting the hang of it and absolutely love planning the sh*t out of my weeks. It’s been great for blog planning, as well, so I definitely will do my best to keep it up. This month and in the future.
6) Start Planning My Autumn Holiday(s)
Days at the shop are crazy right now, but since I still have about two weeks of holidays to my name (which I won’t all take. Story of our lives, am I right?), I’m already looking forward to pinning a couple of dates to enjoy some well-deserved off-time. And to recuperate enough in time for the holiday buzz. I would love to go on a weekend with my family AND visit London for a day or two to catch some early Christmas vibes. Let’s hope I’ll get to fit both in!
7) Spend More Time Offline
Leaving my smartphone for what it is in the evenings and organising a better blog planning routine so that I can do the same with that laptop of mine are also pretty high on the list this month. I’m vowing to spend my Autumns underneath blankets, with a hot cup of something and a good book, or a cosy film marathon, or a jigsaw puzzle, or… instead of spending it mindlessly scrolling through the internet. September is my head-start and - especially - my getting used to the idea of ‘'YOUR SMARTPHONE IS LAVA!” It’s tough, let me tell you that, but when it works? It’s heaven.
8) Take More Pictures
Being more mindful of my surroundings is a huge part of this list, and something I would like to practice by taking more pictures by capturing the moment. Perhaps a bit contradictive to me putting my smartphone to rest more, but what I mean is: I want to capture more great moments to acknowledge and remind myself that they’re there, without worrying about the fact that it’s a ‘worthy’ picture for social media. I want to really see and document the trees outside my window change their leaves, etc. And, frankly, I love taking pictures and want to spend more time taking them so I can get better.
9) Keep An Eye Out For Autumn Decorations
Honestly, where are they? I’ve been scanning the local supermarket for its annual collection the minute September started and they’re still not there! I love decorating, especially this time of year, and can’t wait to get a couple of new additions to cheer up my apartment for Autumn, Halloween and Christmas, but perhaps I’m just a tiny bit ahead of the acceptable date to start thinking about that… I mean, perhaps.
10) Update Both My Morning and Bedtime Routine
The amount of daylight we get is slowly but steadily reducing, so it’s the perfect time to update your morning and bedtime routine to start taking those long, dark hours into account. For example, I’ve turned into yet another total sucker for Lush’s Sleepy body lotion. Honestly, I sleep like a baby now, and just talking about it actually makes me want to tuck in already. I have a feeling I won’t really have a problem with those early nights. (As if I ever did, ha!)
