Hello there and greetings from my sofa, where I am currently vigorously trying to rest and banish some cliché winter-y germs from my body. I’m hardly ever really really sick, but I must say - while I’d definitely prefer doing this while 100% healthy - I’m actually embracing the whole thing because, after only one day, the good was already beginning to compensate for the bad. By good, I mean that it’s actually been rather nice having the time to just curl up with a book and some tea (regardless of the fact that I fall asleep every hour or so), and because I DID wish to read more in twenty-nineteen I’m just going to go ahead and say - well - good timing, germs. I’m currently well into the latest Shadowhunter novel by Cassandra Clare (with Good Omens ready for takeover because I wanted to reread it ahead of the tv series), and - since it’s going so smoothly, you know - I have a whole list ready so I can’t wait to stick my nose into those as well. The challenge? Finish at least twelve. You’ll soon notice there are a lot more on the list, though, so without further ado: here it is!
(books I’d love to read, but that have yet to be added to my collection OR even be released)
(books I already have but still haven’t read OR wouldn’t mind reading again)
I’ve had this book for a while now and still haven’t gotten around to it, I’m afraid. I love Neil Gaiman’s writing to bits, though, so this one is absolutely going to the top of the list.
I blame this one on the book I’m reading right now, because whenever I’m reading a Clare novel, I always ALWAYS feel like reading the whole bunch of them again. Re-sparked enthusiasm, I suppose, but I’ll try to reach for new or unread books instead, promise! However, if I don’t succeed in doing that and opt for this series instead, I’ll at least have reached that 12 book minimum in nearly one go, right?
Ah. I have an acquaintance to blame for this one. A friend who’s recently seen the films for the first time (yes, those people exist), and who’s enthusiasm - besides rather endearing, really - is deadly contagious.
Yes, that’s what I call those Insta-proof books one gets, generally concerning a bit of lifestyle tips and tricks, or just personal interests. You know the ones: poetry bundles like Milk & Honey, How To Be Parisian, The Little Book of Hygge, Be Your Own Astrologer, etc. These are all books I’ve only read a couple of pages of, but never more. So, this year, I’m vowing to actually read them in full. Something in between the bigger reads, perhaps.
There you go! It’s quite a big list, isn’t it, so if you’ll excuse me; I’m signing off and getting ready for bed carrying the one I’m reading right now with me, absolutely determined to reach my quota this year. Wish me luck!
Q: have you read any of the books on my list? What’s on your reading list this year?
