Good morning, sweet readers, and happy Easter! The sun is out, your day is probably filled up with family visits or generally enjoying this Sunday, as is mine. Right before getting in the car towards what promises to be a lovely afternoon with family, however, I would like to share my favourite Sunday playlist with you. It’s one I have (and will in the future) gradually filled up with sunny or beautiful songs that make me happy. In other words: songs that compliment the whole vibe surrounding a typical, best-day-of-the-week Sunday. This, of course, means that it’s THE perfect playlist for just about every morning that needs a boost, too. Click on for that playlist!
What’s on it?
A Design for Life - Manic Street Preachers. You’ll soon find my ideal Sunday music is mostly fuelled by a certain decade. Sorry, not sorry. One of my favourite scream-along records, this one.
Weather With You - Crowded House. The song that started it all, when I heard it for the first time in a long, long while on a radio program that digs up this kind of nostalgic gold you’ve somewhere heard when you were a child because your parents put it on. That sort of thing, you know?
Tender - Blur. Atypical Blur song showcasing Albarn’s more sensitive side. And mine.
Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison. This one’s just a TUNE, you guys. I dare you not to slide-dance through your living room when it comes on. Gosh, I love the nineties.
On Melancholy Hill - Gorillaz. Another one to dance to - preferably with your eyes closed - on this sunny Sunday.
Beautiful Ones - Suede. Hello again, nineties.
17 Days & I Wanna Be Your Lover - Prince. Added today. Twice, yes. Three years since he passed, so it was only logical I’d celebrate one of my all-time favourite artists on this particular day.
Hard Sun - Eddie Vedder. Not a song on here that fits the first promise of those Summer days to come better than this one.
Sincerity Is Scary - The 1975. Absolutely in love with The 1975’s whole new album, but if I have to pick a favourite song? Definitely this one!
Common People - Pulp. You’re probably already tired of me explaining how much I love nineties bands, right?
Shiny Happy People - R.E.M. RIGHT?
Lucky Man - The Verve. RIIIIIGHT?! (Okay, but I’d like to add that The Verve is one of the few bands I never ever throw off my old school iPod, too. They are the absolute best.)
Mandinka - Sinéad O’ Connor. Say what you will about her, that voice is still one of the most powerful, beautiful things I have ever heard and it sends goosebumps up my arms every time I hear it. This song just makes me want to turn up the volume to one thousand, run into the park and twirl circles with my arms spread wide open while it blasts through the window. End scene.
Q || Is there a particular song you love in this playlist? What’s your go-to song to feel happy and carefree and just… Sunday-ish?
