The little ones have been with me for over a month, and I think it's safe to say that life with cats isn't always sunshine and rainbows. Luckily, most of the time it actually is pretty awesome, and to give you an idea of what I AND they have been up to, here's a post about what a new, cat-filled life is like!Read More
I don't know if you've noticed, but whenever I do a post on Monday, I try to pour a whole lot of feelgood into it. And what's more smile-inducing than a couple of cute kittens, right? They've only been with me for two days, but I think I'm starting to figure these kiddos out already. The tiny yet pretty obvious differences between their characters are so great to see, so I'll try and use those as I introduce my new housemates to you. Here goes!
I was quite nervous yesterday, I can tell you. I kept thinking they might not like it here and was totally prepared for a night of being ignored and shunned. All that was all for nothing, however. Their first steps were a bit cautious, of course (seriously: the floor was lava. It was kinda funny), but I guess them being curious kittens, and the fact that they grew up in a great environment (with a top notch Mum) made the move pretty easy. After a couple of hours, they were back to normal: playing with anything they could find and snoozing prettily as every visitor (so it goes!) came by.
Strummer, named after all-time hero Joe Strummer of The Clash, is the daredevil of the two. And you can put 'DEVIL' in all caps, especially when it's playtime. He really gives it his all and sounds like an entire group of horses when he storms through the apartment chasing his own shadow. He immediately felt at home and figured out the scratch post (also known as 'my leg', sometimes) at once. He's friendly, clever, fearless but not really a cuddler (yet), although he does follow me everywhere and is the first to greet me when I enter the room again. And pretty, did I mention pretty?
Named after Her Hignessness from Star Wars, of course, Leia is a bit more suspicious of everything. She hears everything and still acts a bit startled, at times. Once the ice was broken, though, she turned into the cuddler of the two. She prefers napping in the crook of my arm to the scratch post or hideout I provided, climbing all the way up to my face for staring contests and nose boops, and settling herself at the back of my neck to purr loudly in my ears. I promise you, she'll make just about everyone's heart melt. Apparently, after being a bit shy at first she easily cuddles up to visitors, as well. So let's just say she's easily bribed with a bit of playtime. ;-)
COUNTS FOR BOTH.
They are both crazy about feet. Seriously, no one is safe from a sneak attack from under the sofa. They like to sleep on them as well, go figure. Fetish!
Their favourite toy is definitely the Mouse-On-String and I guess the most accurate and important thing to leave you with is this:
They are quite cute when they're sleeping and in between play moments. Then, they're tigers.
Like most cats, I should think. ;-)
So there you go! A first introduction. I might as well, you know, as it will be impossible not to feature them on this blog from now on. I am too in love. ;-)
