Hullo there, and first and foremost my apologies for hardly posting anything during Summer. The truth is, this post has been hanging around my drafts for quite some time, the only permanent bit a title and the unbearable 'yes-no' internal dialogue about whether I would throw all the thoughts I was having out in the open. At the end of Summer, however, and as I'm finally shaking off all things bad, I am about to take that leap. So hold on to your butts and bear with me for a couple of minutes. I promise it'll get better as you get to the end of it. ;-)Read More
Hello again! It's been a while, hasn't it? Well, I've gone longer without any blogging than I'm used to, anyway, but that's all resolved now, as I finally have an internet connection in the apartment. Hallelujah, we have a lift off! It was pretty weird and difficult for me to get back into writing and come up with some subjects, though. I suppose my brain has just been so busy with all the moving about, that the blogging modus was a bit out of practice. Luckily, giving you a sneak peek into the apartment was kind of obvious, so let's get right to it!
One of the most important corners of an apartment, if you ask me, is a place where you can work/write comfortably, with all the crucial essentials within reach. Hence the coffee machine, haha! I really liked the design of this particular desk, but one of the tiny little things I overlooked was that you don't really have a place where you can stuff all your material. That's why I added the cart, which - accidentally - makes it look even more amazing as a whole. I love it.
*Note how the cart is still too small for all that stuff... I REALLY have to say goodbye to some of my notebooks. Oh, dear.
The living room and kitchen are one big whole at my place, which actually makes it look a lot spacier. Well, it IS a lot of space, but you know what I mean, right? The picture on the left was taken in the early stages and in the dark, so I apologise for the crappy picture quality. The Christmas Tree was added last week (in the knick of time!) and finally made the whole thing feel like home.
Also under 'main living': the lovely showcase (my brother's pride and glory after he helped put it together) I bought so I could store all the geeky stuff someplace nice.
A lot of space left for the collection to grow, isn't there. Friends and family; that may or may not have been a subtle hint for future birthdays. ;-)
BOOKS & MUSIC
I absolutely love organising these sort of things, don't you? I actually wanted to make a full bar out of the one I ended up using for my music collection and the vinyl/cd/radio player as well. Why? Partly because I figured I had enough cupboards to begin with, AND having a dozen glasses out in the open might look pretty, but it's not very clever for a future cat owner, is it now? Oh, yes, mark February in your agendas, people, for that will be the start of the furry friend picture overflow. ;-)
SHELVES, SHELVES & OTHER DETAILS
God, I love display shelves... But in case you were wondering: I do have some messy ones, as well. I just hid them behind the tiny black doors and inside the drawers. Just like everyone else does, am I right?
* That retro phone (heart eyes x 1000) is the latest addition to my apartment, and - yes - I have called myself two times already just to hear it ring. Obviously.
So, that's it. My very own place. What d'you think? Any tips for this brand new home body?
Halloween is over, the house is back to normal and all the cleaning and removing of decorations really marked the end of an awesome October for us. On to a new month now, and although November seemed like a rather long period of waiting between two of my most favourite times of year at first(Yes, I AM one of those people already looking forward to Christmas, so sue me), there's really a couple of things to look forward to and make this transition a pleasant one. Here's what I'm looking forward to this month, read along?Read More
